Justice or the birth of bigotry?
When the human heart is hardened by coldness, willful ignorance will be found there. This stepping-stone of the soul then leads to acts of great injustice being committed against others whilst simultaneously howling immunity through legalism. These acts are later then protected by a vast growing moral blindness that raises an accusing finger with one hand while bringing down a giant hammer of hate with the other. This is how bigotry is born, protected and enacted. It can be found in holier than thou churches and school playgrounds, in little corners of the world and entire countries. It is best performed and displayed by homophobic hysteria, racist ranting, misogynistic machismo, and sexist stereotyping. It is supported and protected by outrageous, systemic, hyperbolic and fabricated fears of maltreatment. We as the collective human race have periodically allowed the most influential and powerful members of our group to espouse this blend of hatred housed in a framework of false persecution and fear mongering. It has led to the literal destruction and death of countless numbers of our weakest and most voiceless members by sometimes horrible and atrocious means. As in any war of the mind, where reason is said to rest, it is imperative that we don’t stop battling this ignorance but continue to resist it’s influence and expose the cold darkness of these hearts to the light of truth. Whenever and wherever we witness sanctimonious, dogmatic and legalistic behaviours we have to call them on their indefensible power grubbing. If we are to protect our powerless, most frail and disenfranchised brothers and sisters we are going to have be standing stock still and in solid unison while they yell and throw deadly daggers and lob rocks in hopes of drowning out the cries of the embattled and wounded left in their trail of destruction. Politely pretending to tolerate their dangerous hatefulness has not borne good fruit. It has been our collective apathy that has allowed their strength and numbers to grow. Now they are marching down the halls of laws and governance to hasten and harden their positions. We must be vigilant and expose the lies and deceits for what they are. We must be brave and decry the oppressive forces that swath themselves in religious rhetoric while performing outrageous acts of pious bigotry on the already downtrodden. Love does not shun but it does shine. Most of all shining a light of truth on a heart of darkness. Hopefully the truth will prevail and the lies will rightly die.
